Five-star wide receiver Joseph Lewis commitment is looming as National Signing Day approaches. The Campus Insiders staff gave its predictions on where the nation’s No. 2 wide receiver will end up.

It’s hard to believe the recruiting cycle is almost over, but that’s the reality of the situation. On National Signing Day prospects in the 2017 recruiting class will see their dreams come true, as they commit to schools around the country.

One decision we’re all waiting to see will be made by 5-star recruit Joseph Lewis, the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 24 overall player in the country.

He’s spent an official visit at Nebraska on Oct. 1 and then visited Oregon a week later. His last official visit will be spent close to home, as the Los Angeles native will take one last look at USC.

The Campus Insiders staff got together and offered predictions for where the 5-star wide receiver will send his National Letter of Intent.

All signs here are pointing toward the Trojans. Mike Riley has streamlined a nice flow of talent from California to Lincoln. But I highly doubt Lewis is going to join up with Keyshawn Johnson, Tristan Gebbia and Tyjon Lindsey at Nebraska. USC has done a great job of turning its on-field success from this past season into momentum on the recruiting trail. With JuJu Smith-Schuster headed to the NFL, that opens up one more spot in the receiving corps. to likely be filled by Lewis. He’ll be a Trojan.

    Brian Stultz

Would you rather spend your college years in Los Angeles or Lincoln? Yeah, I thought so. While Nebraska is coming along under Mike Riley – something I never thought would happen – the Trojans will not let a kid from their backyard escape. Fight On!

    Dave Miller

Mike Riley has established a nice pipeline to California, with three players from the state already committed and some other prospects still considering the Cornhuskers ahead of National Signing Day. The Huskers already have a pledge from one of Lewis’s teammates, 2018 cornerback/wide receiver Eric Fuller, but the sense here is that this is USC’s pledge to lose. He is expected to take an official visit to L.A. before announcing his decision on Signing Day. Keep in mind that the Trojans are losing top wideouts JuJu Smith-Schuster and Darreus Rogers, so early playing time could be available.

    Jeff Bartl

Nebraska has come back with the three solid players in its venture to California, and it would be a big move for the Huskers if they can land Lewis’ commitment. But USC has been coming hard at the star wide receiver, and that’s where he’s going to end up. The Trojans could use a player like Lewis with the departure of JuJu Smith-Schuster.

    Kurt Schwerman

USC just lost Juju Smith-Schuster to the NFL Draft, leaving a big opening for someone to come in and make a big impact on the Trojans’ air attack. Enter Joseph Lewis. Lewis is from Los Angeles and would likely love to take over when Smith-Schuster left off as USC’s top wideout. It’s tough for someone to pass up the possibility of being a hero on their hometown team, let alone in L.A. So given that, I don’t think we’ll see Lewis go anywhere else.

    Jonathan Bass

Pair Lewis up with Josh Imatorbhebhe, and look out. There’s just too much tilting the scale in USC’s favor here: hometown kid, program on the rise, and actually knowing who will throw the ball to him. The Nebraska-California pipeline has been impressive to watch, but who will definitively be under center for the Huskers next year? And while Justin Herbert is a star in the making for Oregon, Willie Taggart’s team is, for the most part, an unknown. The Trojans are a known commodity, a preseason darling and a guaranteed way to immediately build his brand – especially if they can remain as explosive as this past season with Sam Darnold under center.
