January 17, 2017Three-star offensive tackle Jordan Tucker committed to UNC on Monday, giving the Tar Heels 19 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.
Larry Fedora’s Tar Heels woke up on Tuesday morning with one more verbal pledge in the bank, and now their 2017 haul has 19 total commits in it.
On Monday night, 3-star prospect Jordan Tucker committed to UNC despite holding additional offers from Illinois, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.
The nation’s No. 99-ranked offensive tackle is from Roswell, Georgia, and is also graded as the No. 6 offensive tackle in the Peach State. Tucker released a statement regarding his decision to attend UNC.
“First off, I want to thank my coaches, my family, and my football team for helping me through the recruiting process. I wanna’ give a special thanks to Vince Vance for also helping me get where I am today and being and older brother to me. Lastly, I want to thank my dad, Derwin Tucker, for teaching me everything I know and my mom, Lisa Tucker, for helping me become the young man I am today. Now I am glad to announce that I have officially committed to the University of North Carolina and will be taking no more visits.”
At 6-foot-6, 320 pounds Tucker has the versatility to stay outside at offensive tackle or move down to guard. He has strong hands and packs a lot of power with his initial punch. Right now, he’s built more for the run game than he is for pass protection, but as he improves his footwork and pad level, he’ll round out as a player.
