Jonathan Jones’ 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine opened a lot of eyes.

The 40-yard dash is arguably the most anticipated drill at the NFL Scouting Combine, and while there haven’t been any times close to beating Chris Johnson’s record of 4.24 seconds there’s always a handful of scorchers.

The 2016 is not different, with one of the best marks going to Auburn cornerback Jonathan Jones.

Jones was clocked at an official 40-yard dash time of 4.33 seconds. The fastest time recorded so far at this year’s combine was 4.31 seconds by another SEC player, Georgia running back Keith Marshall.

The Southeastern Conference guys have definitely been showing out.

Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves III, who’s considered to be the best pure cornerback in the draft, was clocked at 4.50 seconds.

Jones’ lightning-quick time won’t be enough to catapult him to the draft stock level Hargreaves is at, but it should certainly move him up the boards in NFL war rooms.
