March 14, 2017Three-star offensive tackle John Campbell unveiled his top 12 schools on Monday, including programs from the ACC, Pac-12 and SEC on the list.
The race for a 6-foot-5, 284-pound offensive tackle is on, and now we know who the contenders are.
On Monday night, 3-star prospect John Campbell, from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida, revealed his top 12 schools. He chose to include teams from the ACC, Pac-12 and SEC, as he takes the next step in his recruitment.
In alphabetical order, Campbell’s top choices are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee and UCLA. He also released a brief statement regarding his list.
“I’ve decided to focus and weigh my options on these 12 schools. [My] recruiting process [is] still open.”
As of right now, Jim McElwain’s Gators appear to be the favorite to land Campbell’s commitment, especially considering one of Florida’s priorities is adding depth to the offensive line.
Campbell’s former high school teammate, Nick Smith, signed with the Gators as a 3-star linebacker in the 2017 recruiting cycle. Adding Campbell would give Florida its first offensive line commit of the 2018 recruiting class, as it currently only has pledges from 3-star cornerback Divaad Wilson and 3-star wide receiver Jalynn Williams.
Of Campbell’s top 12 schools, though, Hugh Freeze’s Rebels were the last to put a scholarship offer on the table. They made the move on Feb. 20, one day after Urban Meyer’s staff informed Campbell he’d have a scholarship waiting at Ohio State.
