Four-star safety J’Marick Woods reaffirmed his Michigan commitment on Friday, signing with the Wolverines during a ceremony at his high school.

J’Marick Woods held his course on Friday, opting to sign with the Michigan Wolverines. The 4-star safety out of Florence, Alabama held a ceremony in his high school auditorium to reaffirm his commitment to Michigan.

Woods had been committed to the Wolverines since March 28, and has since enjoyed the spoils of the recruiting process. While there was a firm belief he’d remain Ann Arbor-bound, Mississippi State and, especially, Arkansas made strong pushes for his services. After a lot of thought, neither Dan Mullen nor Bret Bielema could pluck the talented defensive back from Jim Harbaugh’s grasp.

“It was really hard to make my final decision because I like Arkansas a lot, but I am picking Michigan,” Woods said during the ceremony. “I just prayed about it and the Lord showed me signs. I feel good about my future as a Wolverine.”

It probably also helps that Jim Harbaugh paid Woods’ family a home visit in the waning days leading up to the signing.

Woods took official visits to all three aforementioned schools, even getting to see Arkansas up close twice. On the weekend of November 19 he was in Starkville to watch the Razorbacks down the Bulldogs in a high-scoring affair. Prior to that he spent the weekend of November 5 in Ann Arbor witnessing the Wolverines throttle Maryland and former Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin, 59-3. And on October 8 Woods watched his home-state Alabama Crimson Tide take down Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Standing 6-foot-4 and 196 pounds, Woods is ranked as the No. 2 safety in Alabama and No. 26 at his position nationally. Michigan currently sits at No. 6 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings with 20 commits.
