FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher has a new deal in Tallahassee. The Seminoles gave their successor to Bobby Bowden a raise for the fourth straight season.

With the LSU rumors on the back burner (at least for now), Jimbo Fisher has inked a new deal with Florida State.

The Seminoles have given their successor to Bobby Bowden a two-year contract extension, as his salary was increased from $5.25 million to $5.5 million beginning in 2017. The new contract, which comes after FSU had given him an eight-year deal in December 2014, will run through the 2024 season.

The 51-year-old Fisher’s compensation will be increased for the fourth consecutive year.

“Coach Fisher is doing a great job as our head football coach, and we are thrilled to continue working with him, as well as his assistant coaches, who all care so much about Florida State University’s success,” school president John Thrasher said in a statement released by FSU on Monday.

Fisher added, “I am proud to be the football coach at Florida State University, and I am happy we were able to reach a long-term contract to have our staff in place for a long time. We are committed to developing young men in all phases of their lives and we have the administrative staff in place to do this.”

This past season, Fisher ranked fifth nationally among the highest-paid head coaches in the sport behind Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh ($9.04 million), Alabama’s Nick Saban ($6.9), Ohio State’s Urban Meyer ($6) and Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops ($5.5).

Fisher was brought into the FSU program as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2007 and was on Bowden’s staff for three seasons, eventually assuming the head gig in 2010. FSU went 9-3 this season and will play Michigan in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 in a New Year’s Six game. Fisher’s overall mark in Tallahassee is 77-17 in seven seasons.
