Jayvaughn Myers committed to the Auburn Tigers on National Signing Day. He chose the Tigers over the Florida State Seminoles.
February 3, 2016As it usually does, the SEC is claiming a ton of big-name recruits, and that trend held true on Wednesday afternoon. Four-star cornerback Jayvaughn Myers committed to Auburn on National Signing Day.
The Tigers made a big splash earlier in the day when they landed Nate Craig-Myers, Jayvaughn’s half-brother and a 4-star wide receiver, and paired him with fellow 4-star wide receiver Eli Stove and 4-star quarterback Woody Barrett.
Myers, the No. 23 cornerback and No. 268 overall recruit in the class of 2016 was committed to the Florida Gators but decommitted due to his relationship with now-former defensive backs coach Kirk Callahan.
Gus Malzahn has to be happy with the addition to his secondary. Myers chose Auburn over the Florida State Seminoles.
There are a few characteristics that Jayvaughn Myers possesses making him a solid cornerback prospect. He explodes out of his breaks, and his recovery speed is excellent. And at 6-foot-1, 188 lbs he has good size for a cornerback. There are shades of now-former Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey. Ironically, Myers decided not to follow in Ramsey’s footsteps and picked Auburn instead. There’s a chance we see Myers make the switch to safety down the road.
