Four-star cornerback Jaylon Redd committed to the Oregon Ducks on Monday.

Don’t look now, but Mark Helfrich is addressing the defensive side of the ball.

The Ducks landed a big piece of their 2017 recruiting class on Monday night when 4-star prospect Jaylon Redd committed to Oregon.

Ranked as the No. 23 cornerback and No. 256 overall player in the nation, the Rancho Cucamonga, California native chose Helfrich’s Ducks over offers from Arizona, Cal, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC and others.

Redd committed in a video that served as a Forrest Gump parody. After Redd says goodbye to his parents, he gets on a bus filled with students donning jerseys from a number of programs Redd considered before choosing Helfrich’s team.

For a split second, we’re led to believe the 4-star cornerback had chosen UCLA. Redd is greeted by a girl wearing a Bruins jersey — in a similar way to how Forrest met Jenny in the movie — but right as he’s about to sit down next to her, a friend calls his name. Redd walks further down the aisle to a friend wearing an Oregon jersey. Redd puts on a Ducks hat and is officially committed.

It’s a big get for Oregon, who landed 4-star cornerback Deommodore Lenoir in June. The Los Angeles recruit is the No. 9 cornerback and No. 86 overall player in the 2017 class.

The Ducks are also in a position to land 4-star recruit Thomas Graham Jr., the No. 7 cornerback and No. 59 overall player in the country. Graham is Redd’s teammate at Rancho Cucamonga High School. The former USC commit is scheduled to take an official visit to Eugene with Redd on Nov. 12 when Oregon hosts Stanford, but Arizona, Nebraska and Notre Dame are all getting official visits before the Ducks will this fall. Oregon could be lining up to fill its secondary with ballhawks.
