I know Urban Meyer has made it clear the Buckeyes would love to add Jay Tufele to their defensive line, but I also projected Ohio State to pick up Marvin Wilson. So, to keep in line with how I see this recruiting cycle playing out, I’m saying Tufele will end up at Utah. He can find early reps with the Utes and become someone Kyle Whittingham can trust to shut down the A-gaps and B-gaps when opposing teams try to run the ball.

I’m a big fan of Kyle Whittingham, and the fact he is fighting powerhouses Ohio State and USC for Jay Tufele is admirable. In the end, though, I think the lure of Southern California gets to him and he picks USC.

When Urban Meyer wants a kid, he puts on the full-court press and usually winds up getting him. Meyer has basically been Tufele’s shadow recently and is doing everything possible. Many think Tufele is going to end up at Utah – one of Meyer’s former schools – but I think the Buckeyes get the job done and land Tufele.

Ohio State has been pouring it on Tufele. Urban Meyer and Larry Johnson visited the 5-star talent this past Thursday (one day prior to Tufele’s OV to Utah), marking Johnson’s second visit in a week’s time. I really just feel like, with the menagerie of 5-stars Meyer is collecting, he’ll land Tufele. It probably doesn’t hurt that the kid was in Columbus for The Game, undoubtedly the best football game of the past season. USC is hot on the trail right now, and Utah has the home-state advantage, but it’s Ohio State who continues to get richer.

The home-state Utah Utes are battling a couple of traditional powerhouses in Ohio State and USC, but despite the firepower from those two and intrigue to play on the biggest of stages, I like the Utes to pull this one out in the end. He’s set to take his last official visit this weekend and he’ll be spending it at Utah, which will be enough to convince the talented tackle to stay home. If it’s not the Utes it’ll be the Trojans, but I think Kyle Whittingham gets the job done.
