Four-star defensive tackle Jay Tufele had an “amazing” Ohio State visit this past weekend for The Game.

Just over a month after Michigan welcomed four-star defensive tackle Jay Tufele to campus, rival Ohio State got its crack at the nation’s No. 38 overall player at a perfect time. Tufele was in attendance to watch the No. 2 Buckeyes knock off the No. 3 Wolverines, 30-27, in an epic, double-overtime thriller.

Tufele, a prospect out of South Jordan, Utah, referred to his official visit as “amazing.”

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 297 pounds, Tufele is the nation’s No. 3 defensive tackle and No. 1 player at his position in the West Region.

In addition to Ohio State and Michigan, he’s also considering BYU, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington. Tufele announced his top seven schools on September 24.

The Buckeyes currently have 16 commitments in their 2017 recruiting class, two of which are 4-star defensive tackles. Haskell Garrett, from Las Vegas, Nevada, committed on February 2, 2016, while Jarron Cage, from Cincinnati, Ohio, pledged in July of 2015.

Ohio State currently has the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation, trailing No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oklahoma, however the Buckeyes have seven fewer commits than the Crimson Tide and five fewer than the Sooners.
