Three-star wide receiver Jaray Jenkins committed to LSU on Monday, giving the Tigers 10 total commits in the 2018 recruiting class.

Ed Orgeron’s staff has gotten a jump on the 2018 recruiting cycle, and the Tigers have officially hit double digits with their latest addition.

On Monday, 3-star wide receiver Jaray Jenkins committed to LSU, becoming the 10th commit for the Bayou Bengals. The Tigers now sit at No. 5 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings, the highest-ranked team in the SEC. The next closest conference team is Texas A&M at No. 9.

Jenkins, who’s from Jena, Louisiana, holds additional offers from Kansas, Memphis and Mississippi State, among others. However, when he landed the scholarship offer from Orgeron’s staff during an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge on Monday, it was an easy decision.

He released a brief statement regarding his decision to give the Tigers his pledge.

“[I’m] extremely blessed to be a Tiger!”

At 6-foot-1, 175 lbs Jenkins has experience playing on both sides of the ball, serving as a safety in the Jena High School secondary. However, as a wide receiver, he’s quite shifty. He has the ability to pick up yards after the catch due to his quick feet and vision.

He’s more of a factor in the passing game on short and intermediate routes, but as he develops his route running skills and his ability to create separation at the line of scrimmage, Jenkins could evolve into a legitimate deep threat for LSU.
