February 8, 2017Jamal Elliott is scheduled to attend the Duke-UNC game. He is the No. 2-ranked running back in the state of North Carolina.
The Duke Blue Devils will have an opportunity to impress one of North Carolina’s top football recruits for 2018 this week, and they’ll get to do so in Cameroon Indoor Stadium during one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports.
Duke is set to welcome rival North Carolina into Cameroon on Thursday night, as well as hometown running back star Jamal Elliott.
Elliott, who attends nearby Hillside High School, told Ryan Bartow of 247Sports that he plans to visit Duke for Thursday night’s nationally-televised game.
Despite both schools being in-state, Elliott hasn’t expressed a ton of interest in either the Blue Devils, who were the first to offer in 2015, or Tar Heels. Nearly a year ago he named the Tennessee Volunteers his leader. Since then East Carolina and South Carolina have emerged as players in Elliott’s recruitment.
The Wisconsin Badgers extended an offer to the four-star prospect in January, his only offer so far in 2017. In 2016 he picked up offers from Appalachian State, East Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, NC State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Elliott is ranked the nation’s No. 214 overall football player and No. 15 running back for 2018. He’s the No. 2 RB in the state of North Carolina and No. 10 RB in the South Region.
