Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor has announced that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft. He thanked Gator fans for their support on his way out.

Florida cornerback Jalen “Teez” Tabor has spent the past three seasons patrolling the secondary and making it hard for SEC wide receivers to find any open space. Now, he will try and do the same in the NFL.

Tabor announced that he will forgo his senior season in Gainesville to enter the 2017 NFL Draft by writing a thank you letter to Florida fans on The Players’ Tribune.

“I write to you today to say that I’m ready to begin the next chapter in my life. I have decided to forgo my senior year and declare for the NFL draft. But I cannot say goodbye without first saying thank you. I am forever grateful for the University of Florida and every member of the amazing Gator community.”

Regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in college football entering the 2016 season, Tabor did not disappoint. He made four interceptions (with one returned for a touchdown) and recorded 33 total tackles for a Gators defense that ranked No. 2 in the nation by allowing a mere 148.5 passing yards per game.

Tabor, who did face multiple suspensions during his time at Florida, including this past fall for the season opener after getting into an altercation with a teammate, will likely be a first round pick. Should that occur, he will follow in the steps of former teammate Vernon Hargreaves, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 11th pick last year.

The Gators’ secondary will also be missing Quincy Wilson next season, as he announced on Wednesday his intentions to enter the NFL Draft.
