Four-star offensive tackle Jalen McKenzie committed to USC Monday night, giving the Trojans 18 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

USC is setting itself up for a big finish on the recruiting trail, as National Signing Day is now about two weeks away.

The Trojans started off Monday with 17 total commits but ended the day by adding one more to the group. Four-star prospect Jalen McKenzie committed to USC despite holding additional offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Maryland, Miami, UCLA, Washington State and others.

Clay Helton’s team moved up from No. 14 to No. 13 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings with the addition of the nation’s No. 33 offensive tackle.

McKenzie, who’s from Concord, California and is ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the state, released a statement regarding his decision.

“First off, I’d like to thank our lord Jesus Christ because without him none of this would be possible, but with him nothing is impossible. I’d like to thank my mom, my dad, my brother, and my two sisters for all they’ve done for me throughout my life. I’d like to thank all my coaches, and teammates, classmates, anyone that helped me along to this point. And I’d like to thank all the coaches who recruited me. And I am proud to say that I am 100 percent committed to the University of Southern California. [I’m] proud to be a Trojan.”

The Trojans now have four offensive linemen committed in the cycle. McKenzie joins 4-star offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker, 4-star center Brett Neilon and 3-star offensive tackle Andrew Vorhees.
