February 16, 2017Former Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd will reportedly visit Louisville while he decides where to spend his final year of college eligibility.
Jalen Hurd’s mid-season departure from Tennessee was surprising, but it might end up being a great benefit to Bobby Petrino and the Louisville Cardinals.
Per Scout.com, Hurd will be making a visit to the Derby City to meet with Petrino, his staff, and players and see if playing for the ACC team is the right fit for him to continue his career.
While Hurd starred as a running back for the Volunteers, it is being reported that he is interested in playing wide receiver or tight end in the future. Hurd rushed for 2,635 yards and 20 touchdowns during his three seasons playing under Butch Jones in Knoxville before leaving the program in October.
Reasons for leaving Tennessee are unknown, but a poster on a Volunteer message board that is believed to be his uncle said that promises were not kept by Jones and the coaching staff.
Hurd was eligible to enter this year’s NFL Draft, but has decided to continue playing college for another year. As a transfer, he will have to sit out a season before he will be able to play again. Hurd has also visited Ohio State, Oregon, and California prior to this upcoming trip to Louisville.
