Jacob Eason reveals decision timeline and plans to choose between the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs.
December 9, 2015The Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs are both going hard after one of the nation’s top prospects in Jacob Eason.
Eason is ranked as the No. 1 pro-style quarterback and No. 2 overall player by 247Sports.
He has the talent to step in and have an impact right away on either program, but which will it be?
In an interview with Jeff Sentell of DawgNation, Eason discussed when he’s planning on making a decision.
“Should be around next week sometime because I am going to be out of here in January (to enroll early in college),” Eason said. “I’ll take my trip to Georgia, come back, talk with family and hopefully have a decision by then.”
Eason has been committed to Georgia since July of 2014, but Mark Richt’s firing opened up the door in his recruiting, and rival Florida wasted no time sliding in.
Last week, prior to Florida’s trip to the SEC title game, Eason made a visit to Gainesville and appeared to like what he saw.
According to one report, Eason told Florida players he’s planning on flipping, but those supposed plans may very well change depending on who Smart hires as his offensive coordinator.
“It is pretty important,” Eason said. “This is going to be the guy who is going to be working to get me to my full potential for the next four years. We are going to wait-and-see who they get and all that stuff before we make any big decisions. I’m sure he’s going to get a great guy in there so Georgia has got nothing to worry about.”
Eason will head east to visit Georgia this weekend before making his final decision.
