Jack Jones commits to the USC Trojans on National Signing Day. He picked USC over Alabama and Texas A&M.
February 3, 2016The top athlete in the 2016 class has finally made up his mind on a new home and football family for the next few years. Five-star recruit Jack Jones committed to USC on National Signing Day.
It’s a huge win for the Trojans to pick up an explosive athlete of Jones’ caliber.
Jones picked USC over Alabama and Texas A&M. It appears as though Jones will play defense for the Trojans, but Helton would be smart to find his newest playmaker some touches on offense.
It’s not exactly a mirror image, but there are some flashes of former Florida State defensive back Ronald Darby — especially in size — in Jack Jones’ game on the defensive side of the ball. Jones’ awareness in coverage is solid, and his change of direction is quick enough to shadow any receiver. Plus, we know he has the hands to make a play on the ball once it’s in the air.
Much like Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett, Jack Jones is a burst of speed just waiting to happen. He doesn’t have quite the same foot speed as the former Kansas State Wildcat, but the effect is very similar. Jones has fantastic vision and the ability to change lanes before defenders have a chance to realize they’re no longer going in the right direction. He’ll surely find himself in a position to make plays with the ball in his hands.
