Jabrill Peppers’ 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, as the former Michigan star looks to increase his draft stock.

He’s the most notable NFL prospect without a position. Jabrill Peppers is certainly a high-profile athlete, and he made a number of big plays for the Wolverines during his time in Ann Arbor.

But it’s the fact Peppers made those plays from a varying number of positions which is why many are debating the future of the former Michigan star.

Peppers, himself, sees his game translating to the next level as a safety, and many believe he can thrive in the same kind of role that the Pittsburgh Steelers once used Troy Polamalu. They see Peppers stepping up into the box and ranging across the field the same way Polamalu did.

However, the 5-foot-11, 213-pound playmaker also took one for the team and filled in at linebacker for the Wolverines. So, some have mentioned the possibility of Peppers playing consistently in the box at the second level as an outside linebacker.

And others have even mentioned Peppers as a potential running back or wide receiver with his ability to create with the ball in his hands — one of the reasons why he’s such a dynamic punt returner.

What is known for sure is Peppers can flat-out move, and he proved that with his 40-yard-dash times at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday. On his first attempt, Peppers posted a 4.47-second 40. On his second attempt, he was clocked at 4.46 seconds.

He was once considered a top-10 pick but has since dropped out of that conversation. However, he likely cemented his spot as a first-round pick with his performance Sunday.

Peppers is also expected to work out with the defensive backs on Monday, which could help NFL scouts, coaches and executives gain clarity on how he could fit into their respective plans.
