1. Jordan Canzeri ran for four touchdowns, scoring from 16 and ten yards in the first quarter to give Iowa the lead on the way to a 28-3 lead. C.J. Beathard threw two touchdown passes with a 43-yarder to George Kittle and an 81-yarder to Tevaun Smith to make it an early blowout.
2. North Texas had its moments, but drives stalled with three field goals from Trevor Moore hitting two field goals from 38 yards out and a 31-yarder. Chris Loving caught a six-yard touchdown pass in the second.
3. The Hawkeyes scored 27 unanswered points in the second half including a pick six from Josey Jewell and Canzeri’s fourth scoring run.
– C.J. Beathard completed 18-of-21 passes for 278 yards and two scores.
– Jordan Canzeri ran 22 times for 115 yards and four scores, and Tevaun Smith caught four passes for 115 yards and a score.
