The Iowa State Cyclones have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Iowa State Cyclones

    Record:
    21-11

    Conference:
    Big 12

    Head coach:
    Steve Prohm

    How they got here:
     At-large bid

    The Good

Experience isn’t an issue for the Cyclones, especially with leaders Georges Niang and Monte Norris. Niang has seen a little bit of everything during his time at ISU, and he saves his best performances for when the lights are brightest. Morris is a fantastic passer and is great in transition, and Abdel Nader and Jameel McKay can both score and rebound. This is a high-powered offense that can run teams off the floor.

    The Bad

Defense has been an issue all season for ISU, and when the Cyclones’ shots aren’t falling, they get in trouble quickly. Consistency from the perimeter is another issue, and this team can fall into a mindset of simply wanting to outscore opponents too easily.

    Prediction

Iowa State has knocked off some good teams, and it won’t fear anybody on the court. The Cyclones’ shelf life will be determined by matchups, and if they play a team that brings discipline to the court, they could be facing a short stay.
