How long is Will Grier going to be suspended? If Florida loses the appeal, he'll be sitting out a considerable amount of time during the 2016 season as well.
October 12, 2015
Redshirt freshman quarterback Will Grier will be watching Florida football games from the sidelines for the foreseeable future. On Monday it was announced that Grier would be suspended after testing positive for a substance banned by the NCAA. According to Grier and head coach Jim McElwain, the substance was an over-the-counter supplement.
McElwain informed the media that Florida will appeal the suspension, which will impact the length that he’ll be sidelined. According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, if Grier loses the appeal, he’ll miss the first six games of the 2016 season as well, which includes matchups against UMass, North Texas, and the first four conference games.
If Will Grier's appeal is denied, he’s out 1 calendar year, so he would also miss Florida’s 1st 6 games in 2016

It’s a tough blow for the Gators, who were beginning to catch their stride under McElwain in his first year. He’ll now turn to sophomore quarterback Treon Harris to pick up where Grier left off. Harris entered the season neck and neck with Grier for the starting quarterback position, but a suspension during the Tennessee game separated the two. The good news is that McElwain has kept Harris involved in the offense on a weekly basis.
