Harry Giles Suffers Partially Torn Right ACL, Will Miss Entire 2015-16 Season

Harry Giles, the No. 1 ranked basketball recruit in 2016, has partially torn his ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season.

    November 5, 2015

Harry Giles, a senior at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, has partially torn his right ACL. The No. 1 ranked basketball recruit in the country for 2016, Giles was set to announce his college decision on Friday, and according to Giles’ father, he still plans on doing so. He suffered the injury two minutes into Oak Hill’s season opener.

Giles holds 16 scholarship offers, but the frontrunner for his commitment is the Duke Blue Devils, who also have a commitment from No. 4-ranked prospect Jayson Tatum. Tatum has been actively recruiting Giles to join him.

Kentucky, Kansas and Wake Forest are also possible destinations for the prep superstar.

The 6-foot-10, 210-pound Giles would join a long line of talented big men to play for Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. Krzyzewski sent star big man Jahlil Okafor to the NBA as the No. 3 overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft. Chase Jeter, the No. 16-ranked prospect in the class of 2015, could be the next big man to go from Duke to the pros after just one season.

Giles is scheduled to announce at 12:00 p.m. ET on Friday.
