Gus Mazlahn's fancy new car wowed top recruit Tray Bishop during Auburn's Junior Day this past weekend.
February 22, 2016If you’re not first, you’re last. That saying holds true both on the race course and the recruiting trail. That’s why, during Auburn’s Junior Day this past weekend, Gus Malzahn broke out his show-stopping BMW i8, which has a price tag north of $140,000.
Because what high school kid doesn’t dream about fast cars at least once a day?
Malzahn slid the futuristic doors open and in hopped Tray Bishop, the nation’s No. 12 athlete and No. 123 overall recruit, for a mind-blowing moment.
“When (Malzahn) pulled up, he came over to me and whispered in my ear, ‘That’s my new ride,'” Bishop said. “He was like, ‘Before you leave I want to spin a few blocks with you.’ Before the basketball game he came and got me and told me a little bit about the car and we drove.”
“It was crazy. I never pictured myself riding in something like that. I see sport cars all the time but I’ve never pictured myself riding, like I got where I wanted to be in life.”
Malzahn is taking the high-speed highway right to Bishop’s heart.
