Greg Schiano is expected to be hired as Ohio State's defensive coordinator by Urban Meyer. Here's the latest report.
December 11, 2015
If a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter proves true, Urban Meyer may have found Ohio State’s new defensive coordinator.
“Former Bucs HC Greg Schiano expected to accept Assoc HC/DC at Ohio State, per source; will replace former OSU DC Chris Ash, new Rutgers HC,” Schefter tweeted on Friday afternoon.
Interestingly enough, Schiano spent 11 seasons as the head coach of Rutgers, who just hired Buckeyes defensive coordinator Chris Ash away from Meyer.
Schiano has been out of the coaching ranks for the past two seasons. He was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during 2012 and 2013 but was fired by the franchise, finishing 11-21 as head coach of the Bucs.
He was the Miami Hurricanes defensive coordinator during 1999 and 2000.
*UPDATE* From the looks of this tweet from Ryan Donnelly of Rivals’ Ohio State site, Schiano to Ohio State appears to be a done deal.
