The Green Bay Phoenix have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Green Bay Phoenix

    Record:
    23-12

    Conference:
    Horizon League

    Head coach:
    Linc Darner

    How they got here:
    Won conference tournament

    The Good

The Phoenix use their balance and their ability come at teams from different spots on the floor to score wins. Their offense has been fantastic this season, averaging 84 points a night with Carrington Love being the catalyst on both ends. He can score in a hurry, and his ability to find his teammates in transition and make things happen on the defensive end with his quick hands is special. Charles Cooper and Jordan Fouse combine for 25 and 14 a game, which means the Phoenix are more than a one-man show.

    The Bad

The Phoenix play uptempo, but they also can struggle mightily on the defensive end. When teams are patient, when they don’t play to Green Bay’s strengths, the Phoenix can get in trouble. Falling behind is an issue, too, because this team doesn’t shoot the three all that well. This will be a fun team to watch.

    Prediction

Akron. That’s the best team Green Bay Beat this season, and although they were competitive vs. Wisconsin and Stanford earlier this year, the Phoenix don’t have what it takes to rise out of the ashes (see what I did there?) and pull off an upset.
