On a three-game winning streak, the Panthers have found a defense for the first time in – ever. After a rough first half of the season, now the D is doing a solid job of holding serve so the high-octane passing game can get rolling. No, the defensive front isn’t good enough to keep the Georgia Southern running game in check, but it should be able to come up with a stop or two – that’s all this offense might need. The Panthers have hit the 300-yard passing mark in every game but two, throwing for 299 against Charlotte and being held to 166 by Appalachian State.
Unstoppable, the running game is ripping through everyone but Georgia and Appalachian State. With close to 500 yards rushing last week against South Alabama, and with six 400-plus days in the last ten games, it rolling at will. Georgia State has found ways to keep most decent ground games in check, but it doesn’t have the talent up front to keep the Eagles from cranking out at least 300 yards. The Panther D is awful on third downs – the Eagles will control the ball and clock for most of the game.
Georgia State will keep this far closer than last year’s 69-31 blasting, but the Eagle offense will stay hot. It’ll be a fun game with lots of scoring and lots of big plays from both sides.
Final Score: Georgia Southern 38, Georgia State 17, Line: Georgia Southern -21, o/u: 58.5
