Georgia's recruiting surge has turned the head of 5-star Alabama commit Alex Leatherwood. The Bulldogs are now just behind the Crimson Tide in the team recruiting rankings.
January 2, 2017Even commits of opposing SEC teams are noticing the Georgia recruiting surge.
To say the Georgia Bulldogs are on a roll on the recruiting trail would be an understatement. In the past two days alone, the Dawgs have landed commitments from two highly-touted 4-star recruits – athlete Tray Bishop and inside linebacker Monty Rice – and one elite 5-star prospect – athlete DeAngelo Gibbs. Since Dec. 1, Georgia has hauled in eight recruits ranked 4-stars or higher.
The Bulldogs’ latest commitment was enough to even turn 5-star Alabama commit Alex Leatherwood’s head. Georgia flipped Rice the nation’s No. 221 overall player and No. 9 ILB, from the LSU Tigers.
Omg UGA is on it ????..

Ironically, Georgia now sits scarcely behind No. 1 Alabama in the team recruiting rankings. The Bulldogs have 4,864, points compared to the Crimson Tide’s 4,990. Despite trailing Leatherwood and Co., Georgia’s average star rating is actually higher than Alabama’s – 4.04 vs. 4.00, respectively.
Georgia’s 2017 class is comprised of two 5-star, 20 4-star and one 3-star recruit.
The Bulldogs have more 5-star commits than SEC East rivals Florida and Tennessee combined. They also have more 4-star commits than the two combined.
