Not only is Georgia early enrollee Richard LeCounte III planning to help Kirby Smart’s defense when spring practice kicks off later this month, but he’s doing his best to help the Bulldogs on the hardwood as well.

The five-star safety is doing his best to aid men’s head basketball coach Mark Fox and land a commitment from Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County’s Will Richardson, a former teammate.

According to UGASports.com, the Class of 2018 four-star shooting guard is being wooed by both LeCounte III and current Georgia point guard JJ Frazier, who maintain that Athens would be the right place for Richardson’s future. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound prospect is also being recruited by Auburn, Butler, Clemson, Florida and Georgia Tech.

LeCounte, who is expected to contribute to the Bulldogs’ defense as a true freshman in 2017, helped lead Liberty County to the Class 4A GHSA basketball state title in 2016. The DB was also offered a basketball scholarship by the Bulldogs.

Georgia is on spring break this week, so LeCounte has plenty of time to help the basketball program in its recruiting efforts. Meanwhile, spring football practice begins on March 21. Last season, the ‘Dawgs went 8-5 in Smart’s first season, 4-4 in the SEC, and defeated TCU in the Liberty Bowl.

Meanwhile, the basketball team fell to Kentucky on Friday in the SEC Tournament, finishing the season at 19-14. The Bulldogs remain on the bubble and will see if they make the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday. But it is more than likely that Fox and Co. will have to settle for the NIT.
