An FSU football recruiting update as of April 11, 2017. The Seminoles are looking to beat out ACC rival Miami for a 4-star cornerback out of South Florida.

In-state rival Miami might have the No. 1 recruiting class at the moment, but Florida State could easily gain more bragging rights very soon.

On Sunday, 4-star cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., son of former NFL star Asante Samuel, set a commitment date for Thursday and will be choosing between the Seminoles and Hurricanes. However, all signs are pointing to FSU landing the St. Thomas Aquinas star. Adding him to the Seminoles’ class would bump them up from No. 8 to No. 6 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings.

Jimbo Fisher’s staff also gained some momentum with its 2019 class as well. FSU landed commitments from offensive tackle Wanya Morris and safety Kenyatta Watson II this past weekend. The ‘Noles dipped into Georgia to land their pledges, and both could help Florida State in the recruitment of 4-star outside linebacker Owen Pappoe. All three are teammates at Grayson High School in Loganville.

Pappoe is the youngest player to ever receive an invite to Nike’s The Opening finals, and Fisher’s squad is emerging as the favorite to land him.
