The FSU-Clemson line opened with the Seminoles as double-digit underdogs for the first time in years. One has to look back more than half a decade to find the last time.
November 2, 2015The opening FSU-Clemson line was released on Monday, and for the first time in quite a while, the Seminoles are pegged as double-digit underdogs.
To find the last game Florida State was this big of an underdog, one has to look back more than half a decade to 2009.
It was Bobby Bowden’s last season with the Seminoles when rival Florida came to town riding an undefeated record and a No. 1 ranking. The Gators were favored by 24 points heading into that contest, and they won the game by 27 (37-10).
Jimbo Fisher took over the program the next year, and since then, Florida State has only been an underdog in three road contests.
As of Monday morning, Fisher didn’t have any information on whether or not star running back Dalvin Cook and starting quarterback Everett Golson would play. He did say that both were making progress, though.
Their availability certainly has an impact on the line. If they’re cleared to play, expect the spread to close just a bit.
