The Fresno State Bulldogs will travel across the Pacific to take on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in a meeting between two Mountain West division foes.

The Bulldogs (2-7, 1-5 MW) are reeling and looking to finish the season on a positive note. They’ve lost two straight games and seven of their last eight. Last time out, Fresno State fell 30-16 to Nevada at home. The Wolf Pack rolled over the Bulldogs defense with 292 of their 498 total yards coming on the ground. Dameon Baber was a nightmare all game for quarterbacks Kilton Anderson and Zack Greenlee as he recorded three total interceptions from both of them. Anderson did put up a fight for Fresno State, scoring both of his touchdowns in the second quarer to pull the Bulldogs within one, but wasn’t enough as the Wolf Pack pulled away in the second half.

The Rainbow Warriors (2-8, 0-6) are still searching for their first conference win and are losers of seven straight games, including last week’s 41-21 loss at UNLV. Hawaii kept it close (trailed 17-14) midway through the third quarter, but the Rebels outscored the Rainbow Warriors 24-7 from that point to seal the win. Hawaii was run over by the Rebels backfield of Keith Whitely and Lexington Thomas, but the Rainbow Warriors were able to counter with rushing forces of their own. Paul Harris led the way offensively for Hawaii, totaling 20 carries for 190 yards and a touchdown, while Melvin Davis (5 car, 18 yards) punched in two more scores.

Fresno State and Hawaii will match up for the 48th time on Saturday, with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series, 25-21-1. Fresno State will look to capture its fifth straight win in the series.

    Prediction

Hawaii will spend the rest of the season on the islands, looking to snap a seven-game losing skid and hand a W to popular interim coach Chris Naeole. Harris will pierce the Fresno State defense, outplaying Bulldog RB Marteze Waller and carrying the Warriors to a streak-busting victory.

    Game Notes

    • Marteze Waller needs 78 yards rushing to become the fifth Bulldog in program history to go over 3,000 yards rushing for a career and in three career games against Hawai`i he has rushed 62 times for 274 yards and four touchdowns.
    • Paul Harris carried for a career-high 190 rushing yards against UNLV, and remains the only back to have reached 100 + yards for Hawaii this season.
    • With three games to go, Fresno State linebacker Ejiro Ederaine needs 5.5 tackles for a loss to tie Miles Burris from San Diego State for the most stops behind the line of scrimmage in a career in Mountain West history.
