The top uncommitted cornerback in the 2019 recruiting class announced his college commitment on National Signing Day. Kaiir Elam, a 6-1, 182-pound cornerback, chose Florida from a list of four final schools that also included Colorado, Georgia and Miami (FL).

He took official visits to all four schools, most recently Colorado on Jan. 25.

The two SEC East rivals were believed to be the favorites heading into Wednesday with 65 percent of Elam’s Crystal Ball voters predicting the cornerback to pick the Gators and 30 percent leaning toward the Bulldogs. The North Palm Beach, Florida native will stay in his home state for college.

Elam is the No. 6 cornerback recruit and No. 48 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He joins fellow four-star cornerback Chris Steele and a Florida recruiting class that was ranked No. 11 nationally before his commitment, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

He has been timed running a 4.51-second 40-yard dash and a 4.46-second shuttle run. Elam has a 35-inch vertical leap.

247Sports National Writer Charles Power compares the cornerback to Jalen Mills of the Philadelphia Eagles and projects him to be a future second- or third-round NFL Draft pick.

“Has a good combination of length and size,” Power wrote of Elam. “Already has some good mass.”
