Former USC players are reportedly angered with Clay Helton's hiring and how AD Pat Haden has handled things for the Trojans.
November 30, 2015USC athletic director Pat Haden took the interim tag off of Clay Helton on Monday morning, naming him the Trojans’ new full-time head coach.
Helton took over after the firing of Steve Sarkisian, and has since coached the Trojans to a 5-2 mark and berth in the Pac-12 Championship Game. He’s 6-2 all-time at the helm for the Trojans, also leading the team to a win in the Las Vegas Bowl in 2013.
Despite the success he’s had as the team’s head coach, some former players are reportedly upset with Haden’s decision and how he’s handled things at USC.
Hearing from several old #Trojans players very pissed off about Clay Helton getting hired by Pat Haden as permanent #USC coach.

One player who doesn’t share that sentiment is former USC quarterback Matt Barkley, who fully backed Helton’s promotion on Twitter.
Could not be more proud of @USCCoachHelton for his leadership and passion this year! Great choice to keep him! I’m with you Coach!

Barkley also responded to Feldman’s above tweet.
@BruceFeldmanCFB not me, and I was with him everyday

Helton’s first task as the new head man in Southern California is the previously mentioned Pac-12 Championship Game matchup against Stanford. The Trojans and Cardinal kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET.
