It’ll be a B1G day down in The Swamp, as both teams are defensively stout and offensively challenged. I’m going with the Gamecocks in an upset, sending the SEC East into complete chaos. Florida is severely banged up on defense, and is also starting a backup quarterback (though given the performance Luke Del Rio turned in last week, that might be a blessing in disguise). Coach Boom takes one in his old stomping grounds, and the seeds of discontent have officially been sewn in Hogtown.

Well, this is awkward. Will Muschamp is not only returning to The Swamp, but he’ll be coaching against many of the same players he helped recruit to Florida. The Gators are starting Austin Appleby because Luke Del Rio is injured, and that could mean one of two things: either Florida will finally take consistent shots down the field, or the Gamecocks the Gators’ perpetually stagnant offense. My belief is Appleby will get by, while Jordan Scarlett, Lamical Perine and the running game literally carry the Gators to a win at home. I’m saying Florida 27, South Carolina 16

My favorite part of this week’s SEC coaches teleconference is when a reporter kept on trying to get Will Muschamp to say he was going to get emotional on Saturday when he returns to The Swamp. Finally, Muschamp said, “I don’t know, [name retracted]. I guess I will see on Saturday.” Oomph. It was great to see a coach drop the coach-speak and just get fussy for a second.
Muschamp will have more to get fussy about on Saturday as the Gators will somehow win this one despite the fact that they have no offense and Jim McElwain’s reality consists of puppets talking to each other.
