Florida vs. Florida State online live stream, TV broadcast information, and predictions. The Gators will play host to the Seminoles on Saturday night for another edition of the Sunshine Showdown.
November 27, 2015The No. 12 Florida Gators will play host to the No. 13 Florida State Seminoles on Saturday night in The Swamp.
The Gators (10-1, 7-1 SEC) are coming off an ugly win over the Florida Atlantic Owls last week, but a win nonetheless. The two squads needed extra time as they were knotted at 14 at the end of regulation. Florida took the lead in overtime on a Treon Harris pass to Jake McGee and were able to keep Florida Atlantic out of the end zone for the win. It was a day the Gators offense would like to put behind them as they were outgained in total yards, 299-252, and converted just twice on 13 third downs. Despite throwing for a pair of touchdowns, this one was a struggle for Harris as well. He was sacked five times, threw an interception, and fumbled in the end zone which allowed Florida Atlantic to tie the game. The bright side for the Gators: their defense. The Florida D forced three Florida Atlantic turnovers and kept the Gators in the game until the offense found the end zone.
The Seminoles (9-2, 6-2 ACC) have won two straight since losing to Clemson a few weeks ago. Last time out, the Seminoles made quick work of the Chattanooga Mocs winning 52-13. Sean McGuire took over the starting QB position for turnover-prone Everett Golson and didn’t disappoint. McGuire led the ‘Noles to points on six of his seven drives, finishing with 152 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns (both to Kermit Whitfield). Dalvin Cook took 15 carries for 106 yards and ran it into the end zone twice — his seventh 100-yard game of the season. Florida State will hope to replicate this performance Saturday with a New Year’s Six bowl hanging in the balance.
Florida and Florida State will do battle for the 60th time on Saturday in a series that dates back to 1958. The Gators have a 34-23-2 record all-time, but the Seminoles have the recent success, taking the last two meetings.
Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the Florida vs. Florida State online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
The Gators may be in the title hunt, but the Seminoles are the more complete squad, thanks in large part to the presence of Cook. No, he won’t run wild, like he did against Miami. But he will pop off a couple of long runs, as well as keeping the chains moving. Florida, meanwhile, will continue to struggle on offense, with Harris faltering in the face of the Seminole pass rush and defensive backs. The Gators will be in the awkward and uncommon position of losing the week leading up to the SEC title tilt.
