Florida-LSU Game Rescheduled For November 19

The Florida-LSU game has been rescheduled for November 19, as the Gators will travel to Baton Rouge to take on the Tigers.

The game will go on, as Florida and LSU have agreed to play on November 19 in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Matthew forced the postponement of the scheduled matchup on October 8.

“It was important for us to come to a resolution. Each university had its own set of concerns throughout this process, however existing SEC regulations did not provide an avenue to resolve conflicting issues in a more timely manner,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said. “As I have repeatedly said, this game needed to be played.  In the end, I want to give credit to the University of Florida for making concessions to move this year’s game to Baton Rouge.”

Both schools will exercise cancellation clauses, as LSU was scheduled to host South Alabama and Florida was going to play Presbyterian on the date.

In the agreement, LSU also agreed to play the 2017 game in Gainesville, which would have been scheduled for Baton Rouge. This means that the Gators will host the Tigers in back-to-back years in 2017-18.

The rescheduling could play a key role in both of the SEC divisional races. Florida needs to win out and have Tennessee lose one more game to repeat as East champions, while LSU, at 3-2, still has games against West division leaders Alabama and Texas A&M.
