The Florida Gators announce a big change to the spring football game. Here are the details for 2016.
January 22, 2016Earlier in the week it was reported the Florida Gators were exploring the idea of changing their annual spring football game from the traditional Saturday time slot to Friday night.
The school has now officially confirmed the move will take place. The game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. EST in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on April 8.
For Florida, the change provides an opportunity to showcase the event nationally without any competition from other programs. No details have been released regarding a TV broadcast, but considering spring games from larger programs are regularly televised, it’s safe to assume ESPN will pick it up on one of its networks.
The change from a noon time slot to 7:00 p.m. will also provide fans with a much more enjoyable environment, and it could produce a bigger turnout for the Gators.
Admission is free.
