Florida Gators DB Marcus Maye Addresses Ongoing ‘DBU’ Debate

Florida Gators defensive back Marcus Maye weighs in on the ongoing "DBU" debate. He says "there's no question" who the title belongs to.

The war of words on who exactly is “DBU” (Defensive Back
University) continued on Thursday at UF Media Day when Marcus Maye was
asked about the subject. Maye responded confidently, saying “there’s no question” who holds the title.

The battle for the “DBU” honor started between LSU and Texas earlier in the off-season,
but Florida players quickly put their name into the mix.

The two parties have exchanged plenty of barbs since. LSU even made a video, proclaiming “LSU is DBU,” but that hasn’t stopped Florida, as you can see in the below tweet.

Former Gators and current Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer even jumped into the action, sending out the following graphic after NFL.com crowned Ohio State as “DBU.” Miami was ranked No. 2, while LSU and Florida checked in at No. 6 and 7 on the list, respectively.

With the 2015 college football season nearing, we’ll soon be able to watch the battle for “DBU” naming rights play out on the field.
