Florida Gators injury update – Offensive lineman Martez Ivey could be sidelined for the Gators’ game against FSU.

The injuries keep coming for the Florida Gators as they enter the rivalry game in Tallahassee against Florida State. Martez Ivey, a starter on the offensive line, is “doubtful” for Saturday’s matchup against the Seminoles, per head coach Jim McElwain.

“Martez Ivey hasn’t been able to go for two days,” McElwain said. “He’s going to try to get out there (for Wednesday’s practice).”

“I’d probably say doubtful right now, just knowing what it is,” McElwain added.

Ivey was a key piece of an offensive line that opened up holes continually for running back Jordan Scarlett against an excellent LSU team this past Saturday in the Gators’ 16-10 victory that clinched the SEC East title. Scarlett rushed for 108 yards on 22 carries.

If Ivey is not able to play, Kavaris Harkless will take his place. Harkless is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound redshirt sophomore from Jacksonville that only saw action in one game last season.

While they could use his presence against Florida State, the Gators definitely need Ivey next weekend in the SEC Championship Game as they take on the No. 1-ranked rush defense in Alabama. The Crimson Tide allow just 68.91 yards per game. With center Cam Dillard already out, losing Ivey would be a huge blow to the Gators’ offense.
