Florida Gators football recruiting update, as Jim McElwain builds his 2017 class.
It took Jim McElwain less than two months to catapult Florida’s 2015 recruiting class up about 60 spots in the rankings. Then again, that’s all the time he had to work with considering he was hired in December of 2014 with National Signing Day right around the corner.
The 2016 class went more smoothly, with Florida landing 25 commits – five of which were top-100 players. McElwain’s haul was good enough to solidify the Gators at No. 10 in the 2016 class rankings.
Now in his third go-round, it’s time for McElwain to double down and hit it big on the recruiting trail. With the addition of former Virginia Tech defensive backs coach, and Lakeland, Fla. native, Torrian Gray to the same position, Florida is looking to paint the trail with orange and blue.
After a return to the SEC Championship Game last season, there’s once again a reason for prospects to consider the Gators as a legitimate option. No more selling strictly on potential; there are results to back up the sales pitches.
The iron is hot, and McElwain knows now is the time to strike.
Below is a look at how Florida’s 2017 recruiting class is looking right now.
