Florida Football Schedule 2016: 5 Keys For The Gators

The 2016 Florida Gators football schedule isn’t too awful, but almost all the top games are outside of Gainesville. However, win the home games and don’t slip, and it should be another great year.

    5 Keys to the Schedule

    – With the road game at Florida State at the end of the rainbow, Florida can almost be forgiven for its embarrassing first three non-conference games playing UMass, North Texas and Presbyterian. Games against the Minutemen and Mean Green should pad the schedule early on.

    – It stinks that LSU is Florida’s permanent partner in interdivisional play, but at least the game is at home. It stinks to also have to go to Arkansas, but missing Alabama is never a bad thing, and this year, missing Ole Miss is good, too.

    – The Georgia game is obviously away from home, and the make-or-break East game against Tennessee is on the road. Split those two and own home field against South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, and the West game against LSU, and they’ll likely take the East again.

    – There isn’t an awful stretch of road games. The Georgia and Arkansas games away from The Swamp come after the late October week off, and three of the last five games aren’t at home. Florida’s SEC season always ends early, and this year it’s done on November 12th.

    – WATCH OUT FOR … Vanderbilt. It took a minor miracle to get by the Commodores last year, and the Vandy D should be every bit as good. It’s a sandwich game between the trip to Tennessee and the battle with LSU that Florida will have to fight for.
