Florida coaches appear to be embracing the Gators’ trash talk heading into the rivalry game against Tennessee.

Coaches typically want to keep their players quiet, and away from talking trash, leading up to a big game. Such is not the case for Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain and his assistants.

McElwain embraces it, much like Steve Spurrier did when coaching the Gators to national prominence in the 1990s.

With the annual rivalry with Tennessee looming, a matchup Spurrier reveled in, the Gators are as boisterous as ever.

While talking with reporters on Tuesday, defensive back Quincy Wilson sent a message loud and clear up I-75 to Knoxville.

“We have a message from DBU to Tennessee,” Wilson said. “Have you ever seen a duck pull a truck? Ducks don’t pull trucks. Nobody has ever seen a duck pull a truck. Florida Gators are going to win, simple as that.”

    “We can’t be stopped.”

Teammate Jalen Tabor also tweeted, “Have you ever seen a duck pull a truck?”

The line Wilson and Tabor are using is from an episode of Martin.

A calm and cool McElwain was asked about his players’ comments on Tuesday, to which he replied, “That’s a classic right there.”

“I guess I have watched an Aflac commercial, but I’ve never seen that duck do it.”

Florida defensive backs coach Torrian Gray also embraced the talk coming from his players.

“You want your guys to be confident,” Gray said. “How else are you going to answer certain questions? We’re not going to say we’re not going to win. You want to have confidence.”

Confidence is key, and the Gators certainly seem to be oozing with it heading into Saturday’s matchup where they’ll put their 11-game winning streak on the line. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
