In a wild turn of events, the top player in the 2019 recruiting class from Oklahoma de-committed from Alabama and committed to Michigan just two weeks
December 19, 2018In a wild turn of events, the top player in the 2019 recruiting class from Oklahoma de-committed from Alabama and committed to Michigan just two weeks after he de-committed from Michigan and committed to Alabama.
After a pair of flips that resulted in him honoring his original verbal commitment, five-star safety Daxton Hill signed his letter of intent to Michigan on National Signing Day.
Hill, a 6-foot, 186-pound prospect, is the No. 8 recruit and No. 1 safety in the 2019 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
He’ll headline a 2019 recruiting class for Michigan that projects to be a top-10 class in the country.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma native committed to the Crimson Tide earlier in December in a statement he tweeted in which he also de-committed from Michigan.
“This was a tough decision for me and my family but I have decided to de-commit from the University of Michigan and flip my commitment to the University of Alabama,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
Hill originally committed to Michigan in September, just days after an official visit to Ann Arbor.
He also received offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma, among others.
Hill recorded 93 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one interception in his senior season at Booker T. Washington High School. He’s an explosive athlete who has been timed running a 4.3-second 40-yard dash and 4.22-second shuttle run, as well as a 43-inch vertical leap.
247Sports projects him as a future first-round NFL Draft pick and compares him to Devin McCourty of the New England Patriots.
