Tennessee Coach Jeremy Pruitt made a splash on the recruiting trail when five-star offensive tackle Wanya Morris signed his national letter of intent with the Volunteers on Wednesday.

Morris, who’s listed at 6-5, 311 pounds, is ranked as the No. 13 prospect and No. 3 offensive tackle in the 2019 recruiting class. The Loganville, Georgia native committed to Tennessee on May 1, shortly after his official visit to Knoxville. He took two more unofficial visits to Tennessee over the summer with a trip to Alabama’s June camp in between.

Morris chose Tennessee over scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, among other schools.

247Sports national writer Charles Power projects Wanya Morris to be a future first-round NFL draft pick who he compared to Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James.

Morris has been timed running a 5.04-second 40-yard dash and a 4.50-second shuttle run. His vertical leap is 28 inches.

Morris is the Volunteers’ highest-ranked signee since five-star defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie, who was ranked No. 6 in the 2015 recruiting class, enrolled at Tennessee.
