Feleipe Franks is pushing for the coveted 5-star bump at U.S. Army All-American Bowl week.
January 5, 2016The struggles for the Florida Gators at the quarterback position this past season were well documented, but there’s an athlete on his way to Gainesville, Fla. who could change all of that very soon.
Crawfordville, Fla. native Feleipe Franks flipped his commitment from the LSU Tigers to the Gators in late November, and he’s just the type of talent Jim McElwain has been looking to land.
That latter proved true during the first day of U.S. Army All-American Bowl practice on Monday. Franks showed off a big, live arm and considerable athletic ability. His accuracy and footwork still need work, but he’ll begin to receive that development as soon as he steps foot on campus at Florida.
According to Rivals recruiting director Mike Farrell, Franks could even push for the coveted 5-star bump while in San Antonio, Tex. for the U.S. Army-All American Bowl.
“Don’t forget about Florida commitment Feleipe Franks. He can throw the long ball further than anyone and will likely push into the five-star discussion if he gets a bit more consistent.”
Franks is currently ranked as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 29 overall player by Rivals. Scout and 247Sports both have him listed as the No. 5 quarterback.
Scout’s Allen Trieu filmed the following highlights of Franks working during the first practice.
