Eddy Pineiro's decision is coming down to the wire, and he tweeted out a timeline for the announcement.

Eddy Pineiro has been one of the most sought-after kickers in the nation for a while now. The No. 1-ranked kicker in the country, according to 247Sports, committed to Alabama on June 11, and everyone thought the Crimson Tide would get a little bit richer.

But there was one team that couldn’t sit back and let Pineiro head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. without putting up a fight for the JUCO kicker’s services.

Jim McElwain has certainly put in a lot of time and effort into recruiting Pineiro, from North Miami Beach, Fla., and it’s definitely been warranted. Florida’s kicking struggles have been well documented.

Gators kickers were 7-of-17 on field goal attempts this season, and Florida even had to host an open tryout to add a kicker to the roster when redshirt freshman Jorge Powell went down with an injury.

McElwain made Pineiro feel wanted, and the JUCO kicker responded by decommitting from Alabama on Monday. Pineiro tweeted out Tuesday that he will make his final decision, and the Gators are a clear favorite.

“I will be announcing and signing my LOI today, after really thinking about it and considering all my options I’m ready to make my decision.”

The addition of Pineiro would fill a big need for Florida and gives it 26 recruits in the 2016 cycle. McElwain certainly learned a thing or two about recruiting when he worked for Nick Saban, and now it might come back to haunt the Crimson Tide head coach.
