LSU head coach Ed Orgeron’s contract details have been released, and the Tigers head man can make some extra money in incentives.

Ed Orgeron is already making good money as the new head coach of the LSU Tigers, earning a $3.5 million salary. If his team, and Orgeron himself, live up to the hype, that number will grow even higher.

LSU released details of Orgeron’s contract on Thursday, and it is loaded with incentive bonuses that could earn him an extra $1.575 million a year. While the goals he will have to meet to earn the extra money were not disclosed, they likely have to do with both on and off the field success.

What if Orgeron’s tenure doesn’t work out? Well, the school would owe him $12 million if they fired him after this year, with that number dropping each year until the five-year contract runs out. The buyout goes both ways, as Orgeron would owe the school if he were to leave for another job.

Orgeron’s two top assistants – offensive coordinator Matt Canada and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda – are also making some major bank for their roles with the Tigers, combining to make $3.3 million this year. Canada, who was hired from Pittsburgh to improve an offense that has struggled in recent years, will make $1.5 million this year, while Aranda will bring home $1.8 million.
