November 18, 2015The East Carolina Pirates will travel south to take on the UCF Knights on Thursday night in an AAC East Division matchup.
The Pirates (4-6, 2-4 AAC) have lost three straight games and four of their last five, but are hoping to end that streak against the winless Knights. Last time out, East Carolina was edged out in a 22-17 loss to USF. In a back-and-forth affair, the Pirates held a 17-15 lead late in the fourth, but saw the lead and ultimately the game slip away when Quinton Flowers hit Rodney Adams for a 67-yard TD pass. East Carolina totaled a season low 220 total yards and just eight first downs, it’s lowest single-game total since 2004. Despite the offensive woes, James Summers was the bright spot for the Pirates with 200 total yards and two scores.
The Knights (0-10, 0-6 AAC) are running out of time to capture their first win of 2015, with just two games remaining on the schedule. Last time out, UCF fell 45-30 to Tulsa in a disaster of a game as both teams combined for eight turnovers with 37 points off those turnovers. UCF scored 17 unanswered in the third quarter to bring the score to 24-20, but the Golden Hurricane poured it on in the fourth to pull away. Justin Holman gave a solid effort going 22-of-40 for 293 yards and two touchdowns, but tossed a pair of costly interceptions, one of which was returned 86 yards for a score.
East Carolina and UCF will meet up for the 14th time on Thursday and the Pirates lead the all-time series 9-4. The Knights look to capitalize on recent success having won the last two meetings and three of the last four against the Pirates.
Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the East Carolina vs. UCF online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
With a chance to reboot last week, East Carolina will resume playing like a bowl-caliber team, even if that bowl is of the second-tier variety. The Pirate offense is better than it’s looked of late. And it’ll prove it, deftly mixing Summers and Kemp with RB Chris Hairston. Once ECU begins scoring, UCF won’t have the horses to keep pace.
