Dwayne Haskins has flipped to Ohio State, decommitting from Maryland in the process.
January 18, 2016Once again Urban Meyer pulled off the unthinkable. With Cardale Jones and Braxton Miller headed for the NFL, Meyer needed to add a quarterback to the roster because J.T. Barrett won’t be around forever.
And, oh my, did he get a good one.
The Buckeyes landed a commitment from 4-star quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. on Monday. Haskins, from Potomac, Md., had been committed to Maryland since May 15.
Haskins flipped to Ohio State with just over two weeks remaining before National Signing Day.
He’ll have big-time targets to throw to over the next few years. Ohio State has 4-star wide receivers Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor coming in, but it doesn’t stop there. Somehow Meyer was able to land commits from three 4-star tight ends: Jake Hausmann, Luke Farrell and Kierre Hawkins.
Haskins’ decision to go to Ohio State was matched with Keandre Jones, the No. 9 OLB and No. 105 overall recruit. He tweeted out a picture with Jones to confirm both were flipping to the Buckeyes.
Keandre and I are like brothers. Blessed to say he's family and joining me at Ohio State #BuckeyeNation pic.twitter.com/9lgLxVuX7E

It's been a dream of mine to play for Ohio State since I was 8 years old. In my heart I'm a Buckeye. #BuckeyeNation pic.twitter.com/OeMxqd3BRV

For Maryland, it’s looking like new head coach D.J. Durkin has some work to do. He just lost two of the biggest commitments in the Terrapins’ 2016 class.
The Terps’ loss is Meyer’s gain.
