The Duke Blue Devils have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Duke Blue Devils

    Record:
    23-10

    Conference:
    ACC

    Head coach:
    Mike Krzyzewski

    How they got here:
    At-large bid

    The Good

The Blue Devils can put points on the board in a hurry behind the athletic scoring of Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram, and they both can hurt teams inside and out. Allen is the guy who gets under everyone’s skin, but that can work in Duke’s favor, especially when the pressure gets cranked up in the NCAA Tournament. Duke is finding out what it’s like to lack respect this season, and that’s another positive. Experience is a key.

    The Bad

Duke has some guys who have been through the wars, but the Blue Devils face a severe lack of depth that has been a problem all season. Coach K’s team also hasn’t been great defensively, and this is a team that has been vulnerable when its shots aren’t falling. Maturity, or a lack thereof, has been an issue, as well. This is a talented Duke team, but one that struggles to win a grinder.

    Prediction

You want to believe Duke can pull it all together, but the bottom line is that unless this team’s chemistry changed since getting bounced by Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament, this team will be lucky to get to the second weekend. It certainly can happen, but the Dukies are prime for the picking.
